- I am → I’m
- You are → You’re
- He is → He’s
- She is → She’s
- It is → It’s
- We are → We’re
- They are → They’re
比如”It is”变成”It’s”,撇号在t后面。
- The dog wagged its tail.(这只狗摇了摇它的尾巴。)
- It’s raining outside.(外面正在下雨。)
- I will → I’ll
- I would → I’d
- I have → I’ve
- I had → I’d(注意:would和had缩写都是I’d,要靠上下文区分)
- I should → I’d
- I could → I’d
- I might → I might(这个不能缩!)
- I must → I must(这个也不能缩!)
如果你看到有人写”mustn’t”,那是”must not”的缩写,但”I must”就是不能缩成”I’must”之类的。
- do not → don’t
- does not → doesn’t
- did not → didn’t
- is not → isn’t
- are not → aren’t
- was not → wasn’t
- were not → weren’t
- have not → haven’t
- has not → hasn’t
- had not → hadn’t
- will not → won’t(注意!
- would not → wouldn’t
- shall not → shan’t(英式英语常用)
- should not → shouldn’t
- can not → can’t(注意:不是cann’t)
- could not → couldn’t
- may not → may not(这个通常不缩,因为may not是固定搭配)
- might not → might not
- must not → mustn’t
这里有个大坑:”cannot”和”can not”
- I can not only sing but also dance.(我不仅会唱歌,还会跳舞。)这里的”not”是和”only”搭配的,不是否定”can”。
- notebook(笔记本)
- bedroom(卧室)
- sunlight(阳光)
- football(足球)
- keyboard(键盘)
- password(密码)
- website(网站)
- email(电子邮件)
- a well-known author(一位著名的作者)
- a five-year-old child(一个五岁的孩子)
- a last-minute decision(最后一刻的决定)
- a part-time job(兼职工作)
- a full-time employee(全职员工)
- a state-of-the-art facility(最先进的设施)
- a never-before-seen phenomenon(从未见过现象)
- a man eating chicken(一个正在吃鸡肉的男人)
- a man-eating chicken(一个吃人的鸡)
- I saw a small business owner.(我看见一个小企业主。”small”只修饰”business”)
- I saw a small-business owner.(我看见一个小企业主。”
- very good(非常好)
- really bad(真的很糟)
- quite well(相当好)
- too late(太晚了)
- a highly-rated movie(一部高评分的电影)
- a badly-written book(一本写得糟糕的书)
- a recently-built house(一栋最近建的房子)
- very good(正确)
- very-good(错误)
- along(沿着)vs alo(这不是个词)
- always(总是)vs all ways(所有方式)
- someone(某人)vs some one(某一个)
- everyone(每个人)vs every one(每一个)
- something(某物)vs some thing(某个东西)
- anything(任何事物)vs any thing(某个东西)
- nothing(没有东西)vs no thing(无物)
- everyone(每个人)vs every one(每一个)
“someone/everyone/nothing”等作为不定代词时,连写成一个词。
- I want someone to help me.(我想找个人帮我。)
- Some one of you must have seen it.(你们中某个人一定见过它。)
- Pick any one of these books.(从这些书里任选一本。)
- Every one of these books is interesting.(每一本书都很有趣。)
- turn on the light(打开灯)
- turn the light on(也是对的!)
- pick up the book(捡起书)
- pick the book up(也是对的!)
- turn it on(正确)
- turn on it(错误!)
- pick it up(正确)
- pick up it(错误!)
- listen to music(听音乐)
- look at the picture(看图片)
- wait for the bus(等公交车)
- believe in ghosts(相信鬼魂存在)
- a pick-up truck(皮卡车,名词)
- a turn-on for many people(对很多人来说是兴奋点)
- a drop-out rate(辍学率)
- He decided to drop out of school.(他决定辍学。)

to:介词
too:也/太
for:介词
- I went for a walk.(我去散步了。)
- I have four dollars.(我有四美元。)
- Fore! Watch out!(小心!
- Tom’s book(汤姆的书)
- The dogs’ bones(狗们的骨头,复数所有格在s后面加撇号)
- The children’s toys(孩子们的玩具,不规则复数所有格加’s)
- The students’ classroom(学生们的教室)
- mother-in-law(岳母/婆婆)
- editor-in-chief(主编)
- check-in(办理登机手续)
- pay-per-view(按次付费)
- She finally arrived—at last!
- The reason is simple—she didn’t like him.
4. 括号()
- The meeting (which was scheduled for 3 PM) has been cancelled.
